As the season of renewal begins, take this opportunity to learn from local professionals about fitness, brain health, and managing chronic conditions. Each session is designed to empower you with knowledge and practical strategies to feel your best this spring and beyond.

April 8 – All That Blooms: Living Successfully with Parkinson’s & Other Chronic Conditions

Join speech-language pathologist Susan Wranik as she shares insights on managing Parkinson’s and other chronic conditions with confidence. Learn practical techniques to maintain independence, improve communication, and embrace a fulfilling life.

Susan, a Milwaukee native, is an author, speaker, speech-language pathologist, and “clinical activist”, passionate about safeguarding quality of life and improving communication among healthcare providers, caregivers, and those they serve. With over four decades in the communication field, Susan blends linguistic, cultural, and medical expertise to provide therapeutic intervention

April 15 – Move Well, Live Well: The Power of Fitness as We Age

Discover the transformative benefits of movement at any age with fitness expert Mary Duke Smith. Gain valuable tips on staying active, maintaining strength, and incorporating wellness routines to support longevity and overall well-being.

Mary Duke Smith is certified as a personal trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and has been working full time in the field since 2008. She holds a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in Psychology from Wesleyan University. Prior to making the transition to a career in fitness, Mary Duke worked as a counselor, health educator and adventure based learning facilitator.

April 22 – Brain Health as You Age

Cognitive health advocate Jodi Lyons explores ways to keep your brain sharp as you age. Learn about lifestyle habits, nutrition, and key strategies that can support memory, focus, and long-term brain function.

Jodi Lyons is an eldercare expert and patient advocate who helps older adults and individuals with special needs navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. She co-authored Brain Health As You Age and wrote The Smart Person’s Guide to Eldercare to educate and empower consumers. Additionally, she serves as a writer and industry advisor for Telemedicine Magazine.
